Epigenetics and Microbiomics in Precision Health

A person’s health isn’t only affected by biological factors - behaviors and environments also play a significant role. Precision health care allows medical professionals to identify your own unique disease risks and personalized treatment plans. Developments in epigenetics, the study of how factors like your environment and behavior can affect your genes, and microbiomics, the study of the organisms living inside of you, have allowed researchers to better understand human health and disease. This course will allow you to explore precision health in medicine and see what research has discovered about this rapidly emerging field.

  • Learn the basic mechanisms of epigenetic regulation of gene expression
  • Influence aging, metabolic disorders, and neuropsychiatric diseases using epigenetic markers
  • Analyze microbiomics to treat disease and define health
  • ”Decode" the human epigenome and microbiome
