Description
In this course, students will learn about new and traditional construction materials for use in sustainable building and infrastructure projects. Materials will include cement-based materials, fiber-reinforced polymer composites, and timber for structural and non-structural applications including facades, insulation, and paving. Material properties, their performance over time and their impact on people and the environment will be discussed and students will complete a design project in teams.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Attendance is mandatory. Students enrolled in this course, must be present at the time scheduled: Tues and Thurs 10:30-11:50pm PT (time updated 3.15.2021)
Prerequisites
- CEE 101A or equivalent.
- Knowledge of structural design with reinforced concrete and steel recommended.
