Management Science & Engineering: Entrepreneurship without Borders

Description

How do you create, fund, staff and run a startup outside the U.S.? In this course, students will work in teams, create mentor-guided startups, and learn how to develop those startups in emerging economies such as China and India. Does Silicon Valley-style entrepreneurship work overseas? How does an entrepreneur act differently in a less-developed institutional environment? We’ll use real-world case studies, research the international aspects of the entrepreneurial process, and network with top entrepreneurs and venture capitalists who are successfully working across borders today.

This course is designed for graduate students only, especially those with an engineering or science major. Limited enrollment.

What you will learn

  • To take an idea and develop its commercial opportunities in an international setting
  • To find resources such as talent and capital
  • To create a startup business model for emerging economies
  • To apply the entrepreneurial mindset of turning problems into opportunities to larger companies and other settings
