Digital Systems Engineering

The last 40 years have seen enormous progress in digital systems, mainly due to advances in integrated circuits and system packaging. Students in this course should expect to leave with a better understanding of system level electrical issues and be able to develop and evaluate solutions. Students will also learn how to design systems that work reliably for the first time and to push performance where it's needed.

  • Signaling and noise
  • Power distribution such as on/off chip power networks
  • Signaling circuits such as transmitters and receivers
  • Timing such as open and closed loop timing

  • Impact of electrical issues on system architecture and design
